A low-weight steel-frame ceramic-clad clip-on is added to existing load-bearing adobe and stone structures with the aim of introducing typological, functional, aesthetic and climatic innovations, transforming the image of La Ribera del Marco. The high-inertia structures’ performance is enhanced introducing new elements which can increase sun radiation collection during winter months and vertical convective ventilation during summer months.
The design strategy complements the potential of existing structures with strategic clip-ons with the aim of testing how traditional typologies can be actualized with thermodynamic criteria.
